Yolanda Kanes will discuss proposed changes to laws and policies affecting estates and trusts and strategies for navigating those proposed changes. Jeffay Chang and Alan Wohlberg will discuss strategies for protecting and growing wealth today and how trusts can play a role in that process.

Yolanda Kanes, Partner and Chair at Tannenbaum Helpern’s Trusts & Estates
Yolanda Kanes is a partner and Chair of Tannenbaum Helpern’s Trusts & Estates practice. She has been practicing at Tannenbaum Helpern Syracuse & Hirschtritt LLP since graduating from Fordham University School of Law in 1984.
Yolanda counsels individuals and families in the preparation of wills, trust agreements and related instruments pertaining to all phases of estate planning and administration. She advises high-net-worth individuals on complex estate and transfer of wealth plans, including business succession, matters pertaining to closely held companies, and in creating and maintaining family ofces. She has represented non-resident aliens regarding U.S. tax aspects of their plans as well as U.S. persons establishing trusts off shore.
Her diverse experience extends to Federal and State litigation involving corporate and real estate transactions with a specialty in trusts and estates litigation. Yolanda represents duciaries and beneciaries in all aspects of estate and trust litigation matters in Surrogate's Courts, the Supreme Court of the State of New York and in appellate practice.
She has also developed an expertise in advising individuals and families in matters relating to pre-nuptial, post-nuptial and marital agreements; adoptions; and establishing and advising clients on private foundations and other charitable organizations.
Yolanda has handled Family and Trust Arbitrations and has served as an arbitrator.
Jeffay Chang, Senior Trust Advisor/National Team Lead for City National’s Trust & Estate Trust Advisor Team
Jeffay Chang is a Senior Trust Advisor/National Team Lead for City National’s Trust & Estate Trust Advisor team. Based in New York City, Jeffay develops client and intermediary relationships as well as administers traditional trusts, agency accounts, charitable trusts, foundations and estates.
Jeffay has more than 25 years of experience working with clients on estate planning, trust administration and financial planning matters. He most recently served as Senior Trust Strategist and manager of the team for The Goldman Sachs Trust Company with responsibility over business strategy, client development and marketing.
Jeffay earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Brandeis University and his juris doctor from Fordham University School of Law. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association Trust and Estate Section and the Society of Tax and Estate Practitioners, and a past board member of the Estate Planning Council of New York City. He is currently the Vice Chair of the board of the Picture House, a community based independent non-profit theater.
Alan Wolberg, JD, Senior Vice President, Senior Wealth Planner City National Bank
Alan Wolberg serves as a Senior Wealth Planner at City National Bank. Alan provides comprehensive wealth planning services to high and ultra-high net worth clients and prospective clients for City National, including entrepreneurs, professionals, their businesses and their families.
Alan joined City National from Bank of America Merrill Lynch Private Bank, where he was a Director/Senior Wealth Strategist. With over 25 years of experience in wealth planning, Alan previously served as Managing Director, Senior Planner at First Republic Investment Management and was Executive Director, Director of Wealth Planning Services at Morgan Stanley. Alan is a subject matter expert in multiple areas of wealth planning services, including multigenerational wealth transfer, charitable tax planning, financial planning, cash-flow analytics and wealth replacement strategies.
Alan received his undergraduate degree from New York University and his law degree from Brooklyn Law School. In addition, Alan has also received his chartered life underwriter (CLU) designation from The American College.
